EMT is owned by Hannah Rogak, MS LMFT-S

I have been in practice as a therapist since 2014. I provide individual and relational therapy via telehealth in Minnesota, and on Fridays at my office in St Paul.

I am also a MN board-approved LMFT & LPCC supervisor and an AAMFT Supervisor Candidate under supervision of Alex Iantaffi, PhD, MS SEP, CST, LMFT.

I am a liberation-oriented therapist. This includes doing on-going personal and professional work in anti-racism, fat liberation, sex-and kink-positivity, and decriminalizing and depathologizing humans.

I am part of the queer community and have supported 2SLGBTQ+ clients for 7 years (including letter-writing).

I am a thin, able-bodied, middle-aged white provider.

Who Do I Work With?

The people I enjoy working with most are the ones who aren't sure therapy is for them, or people who haven't had great experiences in the past. I get what it's like for therapy not to go well, and those experiences inspired me to enter this field.

I see clients ages 16+ and provide both individual and relational therapy (couples, polycules, children and parents, roomates, etc.).

Many of the people I work well with:

  • have experienced trauma or intense on-going stress
  • struggle with either too much emotion or too much numbness
  • are unsure how to navigate their sexuality
  • hope to improve their relationships

What Is It Like To Work With Me?

People have reasons for how they are, even the feelings and behaviors we dislike the most about ourselves. A lot of my work involves a curiosity about how someone came to be where they are now, and what is preventing them from living more of their life as their fullest, genuine self. Acknowledging and addressing those barriers is the approach, rather than "fixing a broken person."

I also know that our logical, talking brains aren't the only part of us that go through life, so healing has to include more than just logic and talk. When people say things like "I know *why* it's happening but that doesn't mean I know how to stop," that's a clue. I use a variety of tools to encourage emotions, bodies imagery and social connection to be part of the work.

It's important to me to show up as a real person in sessions. While I have high standards for being skilled and intentional as a provider, my personality in sessions is more laidback and conversational.

Types of Therapy

I am trained in the following modalities, which make up the majority of my work with clients:

  • Internal Family Systems Therapy
  • Somatic Experiencing  (body/nervous system therapy similar in some ways to EMDR)
  • Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Experiential Therapy
  • Expressive Arts Therapy
  • Sandtray Therapy (Sandplay/Jungian)
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
